Qurbani, the sacred act of sacrifice, holds immense significance in Islam. After performing Hajj, the whole Muslim Ummah celebrates Eid-ul-Adha, sacrificing animals for the sake of Allah. Qurbani is an obligation on every sane adult who has wealth that is more than his needs. Every Muslim who is eligible to pay Zakat is also eligible to Qurban one or more animals on Eid-ul-Adha.

For Qurbani to be accepted by Allah, we need to follow the Sunnah of Qurbani, following the example of our Prophet (S.A.W.W.). There are certain guidelines and rules that Islam has set that you need to follow, and neglecting them will take away the reward and blessings of Qurbani. For couples who are Married, there are certain rules that should be followed. In this article, let’s understand these rules to make sure that our Qurbani is performed the way it should be performed.

Financial Obligation For Qurbani

According to Islam, an individual is eligible for Qurbani if he or she is eligible to pay Zakat. If both Husband And Wife have separate wealth and fulfil the criteria of being Zakat eligible, then both are eligible for Qurbani as well. So, each spouse should contribute towards one Qurbani, at least if they are eligible for it.

Individual Financial Autonomy

If the Wife earns enough or has enough wealth to be eligible for Qurbani, it’s not necessary for the Husband to pay for the wife’s Qurbani. It’s obligatory for every financially stable individual to fulfil their own Qurbani obligation. But if, with the mutual agreement, the Husband decides to pay for his Wife’s Qurban as well, he can do it. It shows Financial Independence and the importance of Mutual Financial decisions in Islam.

Joint Qurbani

In the event that Husband And Wife decide to opt for joint Qurbani, the animal they buy should be substantial enough to support their obligatory share. We also have to make sure that the Animal is in good health and meets all the requirements of the Qurbani, such as a certain Age, No Disability, Etc. The joint Qurbani of a couple provides a sense of unity and shared responsibility in performing this important religious task.

Pre Qurbani Rituals

If you have the intention to perform Qurbani, there are a few rituals that you have to observe, including Not Cutting Your Hair and Nails from 1 Dhu al-Hijja To 10 Dhu al-Hijja before Eid Namaz. Many Muslims all around the world also observe fast on 8th and 9th Dhu al-Hijja. These 10 days of Dhu al-Hijja, from 1st to 10th, are very sacred in Islam, with Muslims increasing their acts of worship and prayers. Giving Sadaqah in these days is emphasised, and Allah has promised a great reward for the people who do Charity, especially in these days.

Donating For Qurbani On Behalf Of Others

Qurbani is not just an obligation that needs to be fulfilled on a personal level; it’s an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate. Husband And Wife can participate in this act of charity by donating to Qurbani for the people who can’t afford it. This act of generosity will bring blessings and rewards to the couple and also to the people benefiting from it. It is the way to spread love, share your blessings with others, and get blessings from Allah.

These are the ways couples can perform Qurbani, following the rules and Guidelines that Allah has set for Muslims to make sure that their Qurbani is accepted.

The true essence of Qurbani is the spirit of giving—the spirit of providing for those who are deprived and are in need of our help. The SKZ Foundation is working for people who don’t even have a roof to stay safe. The slum community in Pakistan is struggling every day to meet their basic needs. These are the people who can’t even afford Two Meals A Day, and they even have to survive on one Small Meal A Day. Having meat is a luxury for them—a luxury they don’t have access to for months and months. SKZ Foundation makes sure that they get to enjoy the happiness and blessings of Eid-ul-Adha and don’t feel left out in the celebrations of this joyous occasion.

We buy Animals for them and keep the animals in the heart of slums where children play with these animals, taking care of them as their own. On Eid, the animal is sacrificed in the Slums, and the Fresh Meat is distributed at the spot. You can be a part of this act of generosity by giving your part, and even the Smallest Amount can make a huge difference. Join us as we make sure that No Family Sleeps Hungry on this special day.
